Quails (72), 4-week-old, were divided into 3 groups of 24 each, and we
re fed with 2 and 5 ppm of aflatoxins for 12 weeks keeping the other g
roup as control. The target organs were mainly the liver, kidney and b
ursa. The gross and microscopic changes were severe at 5 ppm level. Th
e liver revealed fatty changes, lipidosis and hepatic and biliary cell
hyperplasia. The kidneys revealed swollen glomerular tufts and tubula
r degenerative changes. In the bursa depletion of lymphocytes was noti
ced. The lesions regressed as quails advanced in age.
