O. Balat et al., RECURRENCE OF OVARIAN-CANCER AS A DELAYED SOLITARY PARENCHYMAL SPLENIC METASTASIS, International journal of gynecological cancer, 6(6), 1996, pp. 496-498
Isolated recurrent splenic metastasis of epithelial ovarian cancer is
extremely rare in the absence of apparent disease at other sites. Ther
e are only five case reports of isolated spleen parenchymal metastasis
of epithelial ovarian cancer. Among gynecologic malignancies, the mos
t common indication for splenectomy is ovarian cancer. Secondary debul
king may improve survival in a few subsets of patients including isola
ted splenic metastasis, We present the case of a patient who developed
an isolated recurrent solitary tumor in the spleen 5 1/2 years after
undergoing initial therapy for a stage IIIC papillary serous adenocarc
inoma of the ovary. Outcome and treatment of this condition are discus
sed.
