Abstract
The palladium allyl complexes [(2,2':6',2 ''-terpyridine)Pd(C3H5)]x (1 , X(-)=BF4-; 2, X(-)=ClO4-) were synthesized and characterized. The mo lecular structures of the eta(3)- and eta(1)-allyl isomeric forms of 2 , where the terpyridine ligand coordinates the palladium atom either i n a bidentate or in a tridentate fashion, were determined by X-ray cry stallography, whereas a variable-temperature H-1 NMR analysis of 1 sho ws that the complex is fluxional.
