Abstract
We present a new and simple method of calculating the occupation proba bility of the number of total harmonic-oscillator quanta for a microsc opic cluster model wave function. Examples of applications are given t o the recent calculations including an alpha+n+n model for He-6, an al pha+t+n+n model for Li-9, and an alpha+alpha+n model for Be-9 as well as the classical calculations of an alpha+p+n model for Li-6 and an al pha+alpha+alpha model for C-12. The analysis is found to be useful for comparing various model wave functions by quantifying the amount of e xcitations across the major shell.
