Abstract
Analysis of radiolarians, foraminifera, dinoflagellates, and pollen fr om Jackson Formation, South Westland, yields Middle Eocene to Late Oli gocene ages. The samples analysed are older than underlying Tititira F ormation (middle Miocene) and thus provide firm evidence that Jackson Formation is allochthonous. Jackson Formation sediments are age correl ative with Abbey Formation and Awarua Limestone found nearby in South Westland.
