Cp. Hancock et al., CHARACTERIZATION OF MAGNETIC PIGMENT DISPERSIONS USING PULSED MAGNETIC-FIELDS, IEEE transactions on magnetics, 32(5), 1996, pp. 4037-4039
In this paper we report on an initial study of the magnetic properties
of gamma-Fe2O3 and CrO2 dispersions as determined by pulse field magn
etometry. Comparison with VSM measurements, in which the magnetic fiel
d is applied for several seconds, shows that the adverse effects of th
e magnetic field on the dispersion microstructure may, to a large exte
nt, be mitigated by the use of pulsed fields. Remanence curves are use
d to determine switching field distributions and to determine the qual
ity of the dispersion.
