A. Aharoni et Jp. Jakubovics, FIELD-INDUCED MAGNETIZATION STRUCTURE IN SMALL ISOTROPIC SPHERES, IEEE transactions on magnetics, 32(5), 1996, pp. 4463-4468
Computations of cylindrically-symmetric magnetization distributions ar
e reported for a perfect and isotropic ferromagnetic sphere. The total
energy is minimized numerically for various applied fields, with no c
onstraint other than imposing that symmetry. It is found that the curl
ing configuration at zero field is maintained throughout the whole mag
netization process, with only a tilt towards the field direction, whic
h increases with increasing field. There is no hysteresis in such an i
deally-soft sphere, and the theoretical initial susceptibility is infi
nite.
