Fm. Chen et al., THE EFFECT OF CARBON ON MAGNETOSTRICTIVE PROPERTIES OF THE TB0.3DY0.7FE2 ALLOY, IEEE transactions on magnetics, 32(5), 1996, pp. 4776-4778
The effect of carbon on magnetostrictive properties and microstructure
of the quarternary Tb(0.3)Dy(0.7)Fe(2)Cx alloys prepared by are-melti
ng and homogenization have been investigated, Magnetic properties, x-r
ay diffraction and magnetostriction studies were carried out, With inc
reasing x, saturation magnetization decreases substantially, but the m
agnetostriction measured at a field of 2T(lambda(2T)) increases slight
ly with x < 0.1 (0.13 wt%). By further increasing x, lambda(2T) decrea
ses rapidly, and a second phase, (Dy,Tb)Fe3C with Curie temperature 34
0 degrees C, appears, and it becomes the dominant phase at x greater t
han or equal to 0.2.
