Abstract
Permalloy(NiFe) based multilayers with Cu spacer layer were fabricated on various Si wafers(Si(100), Si(111), 40 tilt-cut Si(111)), When Cu was used as an underlayer, the multilayers grown on 4 degrees tilt cut Si(111) showed an in-plane uniaxial anisotropy. This was not observed for those grown on Si(100) or Si(111), When other elements(Ni,Fe,NiFe ) were used as an underlayer, no appreciable in-plane anisotropy could be observed.
