Abstract
Leti has constructed an absolute proton Overhauser magnetometer to be launched with the Danish Oersted satellite in 1997. This equipment pro vides high resolution and small volume characteristics for the calibra tion of on board vectorial magnetometers: the overall absolute resolut ion remains below 0.25 nT (1 sigma), for magnetic fields between 16 mu T and 54 mu T Two models (flight and spare) have been characterized i n terms of functional, environmental and EMC performances. The result is a new standard for low orbit scientific earth magnetic mapping miss ions.
