method for describing the inner geometry of these cables, A new appro
ach has been developed which uses the idea that subcomponents of the c
able rotate about a center of inertia. This methodology can be used fo
r a variety of geometries where compaction due to the manufacturing pr
ocess makes the geometry difficult to model, Finally, this algorithm i
s applied to the design of the cable-in-conduit conductor for the prop
osed ITER magnet.
