N. Ochoa et al., THE EFFECT OF THE POLYMER CONCENTRATION O N THE ULTRAFILTRATION MEMBRANE, Boletin de la Sociedad Chilena de Quimica, 41(3), 1996, pp. 243-249
This work deals with the results of investigations concerning the stru
cture and transport characteristics of polysulfone membranes made from
different polymer solution concentrations. Asymmetric membranes were
prepared by the wet phase inversion process. The integrally-skinned st
ructure of each membrane was characterized using scanning electronic m
icroscopy; the permeability was evaluated by measurements of water flu
x and ultrafiltration test with polydisperse polymer solutes. It was f
ound that, there is a linear correlation between the water flux and po
lymer concentration. The results showed that the polymer concentration
solution have a great effect on the molecular weight cut-off and memb
rane structure.
