The crystal acid molecular structure of a -furfuryl-2-cyano-3,3-bis(me
thylenthio)acrylamide, C11H10N2S2O2 has been determined by X-ray diffr
action. Crystals are monoclinic, space group P2(1/c); a = 8.069(2)Angs
trom, b = 15.135(3)Angstrom, c = 9.770(2)Angstrom, = 92.43(3)degrees;
Z = 4. The title compound, a furanic derivative obtained from sugar ca
ne by-products, has a furanic ring and a five-membered cycle where the
re are two S atoms bonded to C atoms. A nominal sing le C (sp(2))-N(sp
(3)), C(6)-N(1) bond length is found to be very short at 1.339(5)Angst
rom. The molecules in the crystal are held together by an intermolecul
ar hydrogen bond N-H...O and by van der Waals forces. There is a weak
intramolecular C-H...O interaction.
