Pam. Aguilar et al., TRANSIENT SELF-BENDING OF LASER-BEAMS IN PHOTOREFRACTIVE CRYSTALS WITH DRIFT NONLINEARITY, Physical review. A, 54(4), 1996, pp. 2563-2566
Another optical nonlinear effect is reported: the transient self-bendi
ng of a laser beam within a photorefractive crystal under an external
electric field. It is based on the large drift length of the photoindu
ced carriers and is observed during a transient regime immediately aft
er applying the light beam. Results of a numerical simulation are supp
orted by an experimental demonstration of the effect in cubic Bi12TiO2
0 at lambda=633 nm.
