We examine the structures of the hidden crossings of the adiabatic pot
ential curves E(R) in the problem of two Coulomb centres with charges
Z(2) and Z(1), when Z(2) much greater than Z(1). In this case we obser
ve a new type of hidden crossing between the states (n,l,m)-(n,l+1,m),
where n,l, and m are the spherical quantum numbers of the united atom
. This leads to he appearance of a mechanism of nonadiabatic transitio
ns in hydrogen-multicharged ion collisions. As an example of this mech
anism we present results of a calculation of inelastic transitions in
O7+ (1S) + H collisions.
