Abstract
We measured the probability R(s)(2) for two electrons to be captured a nd to remain on the projectile ion during collisions between slow C6ions and rare-gas targets. The dependence of R(s)(2) values of these s ystems on the incident ion velocities has been studied. For He, Ne, an d Xe targets, we have obtained high R(s)(2) values at a projectile ene rgy of 12 keV and a decrease of R(s)(2) value for increasing projectil e energy. The measured R(s)(2) values in collisions on He an compared with the data evaluated from Auger electron spectra.
