Abstract
Phased array applicators for microwave hyperthermia are usually develo ped using planar, layered tissue models, and then evaluated using nume rical techniques, The present investigation considers the use of a cyl indrical, layered tissue model to replace the first step of the design procedure, This model facilitates an evaluation of the impact of curv ature, polarization, and bolus materials on the antenna performance.
