Zs. Barkagan et al., EFFECTIVE CONTROL OF THE BACKGROUND STATE OF HEMOSTASIS IN THE PROCESS OF THERAPY WITH HEPARIN OF CARDIOLOGICAL PATIENTS, Kardiologia, 36(8), 1996, pp. 13-16
During therapeutic and preventive use of heparin the possibility to co
ntrol the state of background hemostasis and to reveal concealed hyper
coagulation is lost. By means of a sorption complex suggested by the a
uthors it was possible to free investigated plasma from both unfractio
nated and low molecular weight hepa tin and to determine the backgroun
d state of the system of hemostasis. The use of the proposed sorbent i
n the process of treatment of 75 patients with venous and arterial thr
omboses, myocardial infarction and syndrome of disseminated intravascu
lar coagulation, demonstrated the applicability of the method for diag
nosis of hyper- and hypocoagulation concealed by heparin. Moreover ant
ithrombin III deficit could be objectively revealed. The activity of a
ntithrombin III equalized with its content in investigated plasma afte
r application of the sorbent. The suggested method can be used for dis
tinguishing hypocoagulation due to consumption of blood coagulation fa
ctors from that caused by heparin.
