P. Indelicato, RELATIVISTIC EFFECTS IN FEW-ELECTRON HEAVY-IONS - AB-INITIO EVALUATION OF LEVELS ENERGY AND TRANSITIONS PROBABILITIES, Physica scripta. T, T65, 1996, pp. 57-62
Relativistic theory of few-electron heavy ions is outlined. Ions with
increasing number of electrons are studied to show the interplay of ma
ny-body and relativistic effects. A complete calculation of two-electr
on and of the ground configuration of titanium-like ions is reported.
The influence of pair creation and correlation on the relativistic M1
transition (1s2s(3)S(1)-->1s(2 1)S(0)) in heliumlike ions is studied.
Hyperfine quenching of the J = 4 level of the ground configuration of
titanium-like ions is shown to give information on the nuclear electri
c quadrupole moment.
