ISCHEMIC limb threat of the lower extremity due to aneurysmal disease
is exceedingly rare in children. Of the 23 patients described by Sarka
r et al (1) in their review of arterial aneurysms in children, none pr
esented. with ischemic symptoms related to aneurysm occlusion. In addi
tion, thrombolysis is rarely employed for lower extremity arterial occ
lusive disease in children unrelated to femoral artery catheterization
or other form of trauma. We report an unsuccessful attempt at limb sa
lvage, despite significant clot lysis during urokinase infusion, in a
3-year-old child with thrombosed superficial femoral artery aneurysms.
