The interionic solution structures of trans-[Ru(PMe(3))(2)(CO)(COMe)(p
z(2)-CH2)]BPh(4) and trans -[Ru-(PMe(3))(2)(CO)(COMe)(eta(2)-pz(3)-CH)
]BPh(4) have been ''directly'' investigated by the detection of interi
onic contacts in H-1-NOESY NMR spectra between the protons of the orga
nometallic fragments and those of the counterion. BPh(4)(-). A compari
son with the solid-state structures obtained by single-crystal X-ray s
tudies has been made.
