Abstract
A review of recent results on the self-organization of wave disturbanc es into nonlinear structures in the Earth's atmosphere and magnetosphe re is given. The redistribution of the magnetospheric plasma under the action of ponderomotive forces induced by geomagnetic pulsations is d iscussed. Mechanisms for the formation of vortex structures in the ear th's atmosphere, ionosphere, and magnetosphere are analyzed. Theoretic al predictions are compared with observational data.
