Abstract
It is shown that most of the present-day hot-wire anemometers have a l imitation at high frequencies: namely that the tail of the power spect rum of the anemometer output signal has a spurious rise with frequency . This rise, which is proportional to the square of frequency (f(2)), is of great concern when one deals with small-scale measurements in hi gh-Reynolds-number flows.
