G. Hetsroni et al., A HOT-FOIL INFRARED TECHNIQUE FOR STUDYING THE TEMPERATURE-FIELD OF AWALL, Measurement science & technology, 7(10), 1996, pp. 1418-1427
An infrared technique is used to investigate the temperature field on
the surface of heated walls in turbulent boundary layers. This method
is based on measurement of local temperatures on the surface of a heat
ed film, fixed on a solid frame, by means of infrared thermography. Th
e behaviour of such a sensor is considered in connection with the vari
ation of flow characteristics, film geometric parameters, physical pro
perties of its material, etc. The advantages of the present method are
illustrated in its application in the analysis of temperature fields
on the surface of a wall in a turbulent boundary layer, under various
flow conditions.
