The DIANA collaboration has studied the yields of eta and omega mesons
in low-energy (p) over bar Xe annihilations in reactions with and wit
hout strange-particle production. The yields of eta and omega mesons i
n antiproton annihilations at rest and in flight were obtained. From t
hese data, the eta N and omega N cross sections in the meson momentum
interval from 200 to 700 MeV/c were determined. The eta N cross sectio
n is (17 +/- 10) mb and does not change significantly in this momentum
interval, while the cross section of omega N interaction is (60 +/- 3
0) mb and increases with decreasing omega momentum.
