Jd. Asis et al., DATA ON THE NESTING-BEHAVIOR OF CERCERIS- INTERRUPTA-PENINSULARIS MERCET AND DESCRIPTION OF ITS MATURE LARVA (HYMENOPTERA, SPHECIDAE), Annales de la Societe entomologique de France, 32(3), 1996, pp. 291-297
The nesting behavior and mature larva of Cerceris interrupta peninsula
ris Mercet are described. The nests belong to the regressive type. On
each day, the female brings in the nest prey (weevils) enough to compl
ete a cell. The number of provisioning flights increases during the ce
ntral hours of the day, and both the first and latest flight of each d
ay are significantly longer than the rest. The mature larva is similar
to those described in the genus, but the spinnerets are remarkably sh
ort, the labial palpi surpassing them.
