Abstract
Existing (e, 2e) angular distribution measurements and (e,2e) energy s pectra in atomic cadmium are reviewed and a major difference in the an alyses of me two data sets is highlighted. It is shown that an autoion izing level, previously postulated to explain the angular distribution data does not exist, and is an artefact of the simplifying assumption s used in the original analysis. A new calculation is presented which unifies the interpretation of the measured angular distributions and t he energy spectra.
