Business process and enterprise activity modelling plays a central rol
e in enterprise modelling in the context of CIM and enterprise integra
tion. Business processes model enterprise behaviour while enterprise a
ctivities model enterprise functionality. In this paper, enterprise mo
delling and integration are first discussed. Then, a formalism to spec
ify business processes and enterprise activities is presented. The for
malism makes use of behavioural rules derived from process algebra for
structured processes and temporal logic for semi-structured processes
. The paradigm assumes that processes and their activities are execute
d by human or non-human agents, called functional entities, performing
elementary actions, called functional operations.
