Abstract
Preliminary experimental results are reported on application demonstra tion of an optical nonlinear bistable element based on a semiconductor multilayered distributed-feedback/Fabry-Perot (DFB/FP) structure. A p roof-of-concept of optical clock recovery and transparent self-routein g (all-optical self-switching) was demonstrated. The results confirmed the device's promising for applications in transparent fibre-optic te lecommunications networks.
