Abstract
As a rule, acute pain is a warning symptom of impending or real tissue lesion. In contrast, chronic pain states are major problems of its ow n. Recurrent pain syndromes have a special significance for the neurol ogical discipline. Thorough evaluation of history, careful pain analys is, and clinical examination are thought to be the most important appr oaches to exact diagnosis and proper therapy. Onset of pain, time cour se, rhythm, spatial distribution acid irradiation, quality, intensity, and modulating factors should be assessed and documented.
