Abstract
We analyze different mechanisms of entropy production in statistical m echanics, and propose formulas for the entropy production rate e(mu) i n a state mu. When mu is a steady state describing the long ten behavi or of a system we show that e(mu) greater than or equal to 0, and some times we can prove e(mu) > 0.
