O. Bidault et al., THE ONSET OF AN ELECTRIC-FIELD-INDUCED FERROELECTRIC-LIKE PHASE IN THE PEROVSKITE PB(MG1 3NB2/3)O-3/, Journal of physics. Condensed matter, 8(42), 1996, pp. 8017-8026
We study the effect of DC electric field application on a Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/
3)O-3 ceramic by impedance spectroscopy and depolarization current mea
surements. The results indicate the onset of a true ferroelectric phas
e, characterized by long-range order, instead of a glassy one. The 'fr
eezing' temperature deduced from the Vogel-Fulcher relationship coinci
des with the phase transition one, whereas the fitted relaxation frequ
ency displays a minimum, as in usual ferroelectrics. The chemical and
physical structure of the material is the key parameter to understand
the dielectric response which results both from the clusters' dynamics
and from their development.
