Based on a circular are scanning model and the formularizing of hyster
esis curves of piezoelectric tubes, a three-dimensional scanning model
of piezoelectric tubes is presented and used to compensate distortion
s of measured images scanned by a piezoelectric tube. This model-based
compensation method can correct three-dimensional distortions simulta
neously with two key parameters which are obtained just by measuring v
ertical deformation-voltage characteristics of the piezoelectric tube.
Experiments showing the effectiveness of this method are also discuss
