Abstract
Erosion damage of wear-resistant materials due to sand particle imping ement is measured and correlated based on Bitter's erosion model to cl arify the effects of particle impinging velocity and angle, particle s ize and concentration on the wear. Using the empirical formula for the correlation and calculating impinging velocities of sand particles on a casing wall of a pump, successive erosion of the wall is numericall y calculated to demonstrate the viability of the prediction method pro posed in our previous study.
