Sc. Wang et Ma. Ingram, A NOVEL FOURIER TECHNIQUE FOR CALCULATING FIBER-TO-LED COUPLING EFFICIENCY WITH LATERAL AND LONGITUDINAL MISALIGNMENTS, Journal of lightwave technology, 14(10), 1996, pp. 2407-2413
Alignment tolerance is a very desirable quality for a low cost optical
connector, Sensitivity to misalignment depends on a number of paramet
ers such as emitter directivity, fiber core radius, fiber numerical ap
erture, and emitter size. In this paper, we present a novel Fourier te
chnique to calculate the amount of power coupled into a large core fib
er for various parameter values and longitudinal and lateral misalignm
ents. This technique can be 100 times faster on a computer compared to
the brute force numerical integration method.
