Abstract
The Wigner function for one- and two-mode quantum systems is explicitl y expressed in terms of the marginal distribution for the generic line arly transformed quadratures. Then, the density operator of those syst ems is also written in terms of the marginal distribution of these qua dratures. Some applications and a reduction to the usual optical homod yne tomography are considered.
