Since the early 70s the synchrotron radiation applications, the light
emitted in the particle accelerators, have shown a huge increase in fi
elds such as biology, materials science, physics, medicine and so on.
This kind of light sources have taken a special role in chemist scienc
e, either from the industrial or academic point of view. In this paper
is given an introduction in the synchrotron radiation properties and
about the present synchrotron radiation sources. Also are described th
e techniques and the applications related with this type of radiation.
Finally, some examples concerning to the chemistry industry are prese
nted.
