A. Altendorfhofmann et W. Hohenberger, THE VALUE OF THE CLINICAL CANCER REGISTRY IN INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE IN SURGICAL ONCOLOGY, Langenbecks Archiv fur Chirurgie, 1996, pp. 159-161
Statistically based, continuous quality improvement techniques have be
en advocated for use in medical settings. Annual reports from the canc
er registry database provide most of the information needed to advance
improvement or retrogression in the care of cancer patients. The anal
ysis of the frequency of resection, complication rate, mortality rates
, and survival rates provides a quality measure for the surgical treat
ment of cancer.
