Abstract
The results of 277 patients aged 70 years and over are compared to 152 2 operations performed on younger patients. Older patients had signifi cantly more postoperative complications; the conversion rate was also higher than in the younger patient collective. Compared to open cholec ystectomy, however, the results are in favor of laparoscopic cholecyst ectomy and also aged patients benefit from this approach.
