Abstract
Phase-resolved laser Doppler measurements were made of the three-dimen sional velocity field and tip vortex structure in the wake of a hoveri ng rotor. A one-bladed rotor was used to generate a single and nominal ly helical shaped vortex filament in the rotor flow field. The measure ments were analyzed to establish the detailed structure of the tip vor tex, such as the tangential and axial velocity profiles, circulation p rofiles, and viscous core growth with vortex age.
