Ch. Schick et al., EARLY MOBILIZATION AND LONG-TERM RESULTS OF TREATMENT OF TROCHANTERICFRACTURES WITH THE DYNAMIC HIP SCREW AND THE GAMMA-NAIL, Langenbecks Archiv fur Chirurgie, 1996, pp. 991-993
We studied early mobilisation and long-term results in patients treate
d with the dynamic hip screw (DHS) or gamma nail after trochanteric fr
actures. Both implants showed good results in stable fractures; patien
ts with unstable fractures were able to walk with full load earlier wh
en treated with the gamma nail. We recommend the DHS for stable and th
e gamma nail for unstable trochanteric fractures.
