Abstract
We compared 19 patients with Friedreich's ataxia, a progressive heredi tary neuromuscular disorder, with 19 healthy age-matched subjects. Dur ing nighttime, patients had shorter mean RR and decreased heart rate v ariability parameters related to parasympathetic activity than healthy subjects, whereas no difference occurred during daytime.
