CD-I means ''compact disk interactive'' and represents a database that
allows the presentation of various digitalized media sources such as
photographs or audio and video recordings via a TV or computer screen.
In contrast to teaching videos the spectator can interact by requesti
ng more detailed information on topics of special interest or jump to
other chapters at any time. In minimal invasive surgery the situs is d
isplayed on screen. To create a teaching and learning environment mult
imedia technology can easily mimic the on-site situation. Surgical pro
cedures, as well as the handling of instruments, can be presented and
explained as in reality, thus allowing a more interactive learning exp
erience.
