D. Rabinowitz, A PSEUDOLIKELIHOOD APPROACH TO CORRECTING FOR ASCERTAINMENT BIAS IN FAMILY STUDIES, American journal of human genetics, 59(3), 1996, pp. 726-730
The Cannings and Thompson approach to correcting for ascertainment bia
s in family studies is extended to settings with multiple ascertainmen
t. The extension is based on maximizing a pseudolikelihood. Two approa
ches to computing standard errors for the maximum pseudolikelihood est
imate are described. One is especially simple to compute, while the ot
her is more generally applicable. Simulation experiments suggest that
the standard-error computations can be quite accurate.
