Abstract
The ETFSI mass table, which is based entirely on microscopic forces, h as been modified to take account of the strong quenching of shell effe cts found in HFB calculations on highly neutron-rich nuclei. The gener al effect of this modification is to reduce nuclear deformations; we d iscuss the implications for the r-process nuclidic abundances, as calc ulated in the canonical model.
