Abstract
From 1983 to 1994 170 carcinomas were operated with the TEM technique at three clinics (Mainz, Cologne, Tubingen). The final histological st aging of the patients with carcinomas was low-risk pT1 in 102 cases, h igh-risk pT1 in eight cases, low-risk pT2 in 39 cases, high-risk pT2 i n three cases, low-risk pT3 in 13 cases and in five cases high-risk pT 3. Of 102 patients with pT1 low-risk carcinomas 22 underwent further r e section, nine of the 42 pT2 and eight of the 18 pT3 tumors. Four of the 80 patients with pT1 low-risk carcinomas only treated locally have had a recurrence. The 5-year survival rate of pT1 low-risk carcinomas was 84.5% and the age-corrected survival rate 100%. pT2 low-risk carc inomas had a 5-year survival rate of 73.9% and a corrected rate of 100 %. The adjusted survival rate of pT1 low-risk carcinomas was 96.7% and 90.9% in pT2 low-risk carcinomas. The 5-year tumor free survival rate in pT1 low risk was 82.0% and in pT2 low-risk carcinomas 67.3%.
