Abstract
The formation of the first anodic monolayer of adenine at the mercury/ electrolyte interface in berate solution has been investigated by mean s of current-time curves using the potential step technique. The trans ients can theoretically be well described by a two-dimensional (2D) tr uncated progressive nucleation and constant growth of monolayer island s. On the basis of the atomistic theory of nucleation the number of mo nomers forming the critical nucleus has been determined.
