A high-resolution inelastic neutron scattering (INS) spectrum has been
observed for trans-polyacetylene films in the range 8-4000 cm(-1) at
6 K, and compared with the calculated INS spectrum based on the force
field obtained in our previous study. The peak positions as well as th
e overall intensity profile of the observed INS spectrum are well repr
oduced by the present calculation, in which the effects of the Debye-W
aller factors and the phonon wings are taken into account.
