Abstract
The preceding Comment by Bitto and Carter objects to our interpretatio n of the weak quantum beats observed for particular rovibrational stat es of (B) over tilde (2)A' HCO in the title article and postulates tha t the observed beats are anisotropic hyperfine quantum beats. We concu r with their Comment, acknowledge the conceptual errors in our initial interpretation, and provide additional evidence in support of their n ew interpretation. The other results and conclusions of the title arti cle remain unchanged.
