Abstract
Forced dynamics of the system comprised of a riser, connected to a flo ating platform and conveying fluid, is studied in the presence of ocea n waves and ocean currents. Shear effects based on nonlinear elastic t heory are included in the formulation. The effects of the structural a nd hydrodynamic parameters on motion amplitude are evaluated and analy tically studied based on an approach developed by Butenin. It is demon strated that when the nonlinearities are small, the solutions obtained using Butenin's method match the numerical results. Copyright (C) 199 6 Elsevier Science Ltd
